Objective To explore the influence of the holistic view of traditional Chinese medicine combined with the concept of Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) in elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures. Methods A total of 88 patients who underwent vertebroplasty and were admitted to our hospital from June 2024 to December 2024 were selected and randomly divided into the conventional perioperative nursing group (conventional group) and the perioperative nursing group combining traditional Chinese medicine nursing with the ERAS concept (modified group). The incidence of postoperative complications, the time of first getting out of bed after surgery, the length of hospital treatment, VAS, JOA, ODI scores and NSNS scores before discharge were compared between the two groups of patients. Results The incidence of postoperative complications in the modified group (6.82%) was significantly lower than that in the conventional group (22.73%), and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After integrating traditional Chinese medicine nursing with the ERAS concept, the time for patients to get out of bed for the first time after surgery and the duration of hospital treatment [(2.09±0.06)h, (2.68±0.22)d] were both lower than those in the conventional group [(2.57±0.16)h, (4.18±0.45)d], and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The VAS and ODI scores of the modified group were both lower than those of the conventional group, and the JOA score and the NSNS score before discharge were both higher than those of the conventional group. The differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Based on the holistic view of traditional Chinese medicine and combined with the ERAS concept, it can accelerate the postoperative recovery of elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures, reduce the occurrence of postoperative complications, improve the comfort and lumbar function of patients, and enhance the satisfaction of overall nursing.
